Mark
Birnbaum, a 35 year old hospitality
tycoon, who shares his date of birth June 10 with his partner Eugene
Remm, is now a crowned king of New York’s nightlife. This
hospitality mogul started his career as a promotion director, and no
one could ever imagine that one day he would become the heartbeat of
New York’s restaurants and nightclubs.
The
journey that he started with little steps of being a business
promoter and event director for the Manhattan Clubs is still ongoing
with splendid success of EMM Group. He has grown the business with
utmost efforts and patience with his other two partners Eugene Remm
and Michael Hirtenstein, with venues and restaurants including,
Catch, Lexington Brass, Catch Roof, Tenjune, The Chandelier Room, SL
east, four Hundred, the Estate and Abe and Arthur.
Mark
Birnbaum is not only a successful
businessman, but he is also attached with his ancestors and the
living example of this was given by him in a reply while telling the
names of his restaurants. He named Abe & Arthur after his
grandfather Mr. Arthur and Abe was Michael’s grandfather. In the
same interview, he mentioned that S suffixed in SL was derived from
Eugene’s grandfather Mr. Simyone. These efforts of Mark
Birnbaum, which were equally
supported by his partners, are now turned in to an income source for
more than 700 employees.
Not many of his fans know that, before he
joined EMM Group, Eugene and Mark were business competitors. At that
time before they formed this group, hospitality industry and
nightlife were two different lines of a railway track that ran
parallel but never met. People who have been to ‘Catch Roof’,
always describe the ambiance of the place and the picturesque lounge
that can accommodate nearly 200 people.
To
the date, Mark Birnbaumis known for his flourishing restaurants and nightclub spots and thevictory flag of EMM Group is unfurling on the hearts of NewYorkers.
